Departure Dates
While planning a trip in Arvee you may note that the calculated departure dates are provided for each stop in the plan. These dates may not necessarily be ituitive, especially for new users or complicated plans that make use of both flexible and fixed date stops.
When calculating departure dates, all of the trip items that proceed a particular date are taken into account going back to the start location for thr trip. For example:
Stop Number | Date(s) | Departure Date |
---|---|---|
1 | April 1st | April 1st |
2 | 5 night (flexible) | April 6th |
3 | April 10th - April 15th | April 15th |
As shown, the trip starts April 1st. However, the 2nd stop in the trip is a 5 night “flexible” date, meaning it’s arrival and departure dates and based on the proceeding item in the trip. In this case, that means the arrival would be April 1st as well and departure of April 6th (five nights later).
Conversely, the 3rd item in the trip has fixed dates for arrivals and departures, so in this case the departure date is more straightforward as April 15th.
Flexible night stays are always assumed to start at the beginning of the window provided between the previous and next stop. For example, if you have 15 unplanned nights between two stops and add a flexible destination that is set for 5 nights, it will be assumed those 5 nights start immediately on the departure date of the proceeding item.
If this is not your intent, use fixed dates to inform the system of exactly what dates you would like your stop to be.
